“1000 Paper Cranes”,acrylic

This painting was inspired by blooming crabapple tree in my garden and by the story about Japanese girl, Sadako Sasaki.

She was very ill in the hospital. She passed her time folding paper cranes, because she believed in the Japanese legend, that when she will have a 1000 of them, then she will be granted one wish. She died from leukemia caused by nuclear bombing.

Paper cranes symbolize people dreams and prayers. A pink tree is something new, fresh and full of hope.
