“Our Lady of Rosary”,acrylic, 16”x20”,in private collection
(“Matka Boska Rozancowa”albo “Matka Boska z Pompei”)
The image represents Our Lady of the Rosary. It’s a variation of the Marian icons representing Mary enthroned. She reigns but she is herself the throne of the King of kings,Jesus Christ. He extends his blessing hand and at the same time bestows the blessing of the rosary on St. Dominic at his feet. To Our Lady’s left we see St. Catherine of Sienna. The painting was placed in church on February 13, 1876, the foundation day for the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary there.
